Get on the Waiting List for French Angoras!
The Ingham County Fair starts next week! We have been very busy preparing our projects and our rabbits for this event. Hopefully it will be another successful year for us in our project areas.
All of our litters are doing very well. Lily of the Valley's litter is now 4 weeks old and have grown so much! Freezing Rain's litter is currently 8 days old, while my Satin doe, Vanilla Bean's litter is a week old today. I will try to get some updated pics soon to post on here.
I did want to let everyone know that I am now taking in names for my French Angora litters. I have plans to retain one to two kits from each litter for my breeding program, and I have yet to decide who will be staying, as it will depend on how they mature. I also want to put a few of the kits on the show table before they leave to their new homes. I will likely have some un-shown kits available for sale but if you are willing to wait a few extra weeks so they can hit the show circuit a little then I will have a larger selection available. Prices will be dependent on quality. All I need to add you to the list is a name, phone number, email, gender(s) wanted, and color preference (I should have lots of REWs available). Please email me with the above information.
I am not currently taking in names for my Satin litter as I want to give her one more week just to make sure but I will likely start taking in names for my Satin litter next week. There should be bucks and does available in broken black. I will be retaining 1-2 kits for my breeding program and will be showing a few as well but considering I have 9 kits I think it would be safe to say that I will have some available!
Please check out our website if you are interested in seeing pictures, sale rabbits, or more information!

French Angora Kits at Last!
We got our first French Angora litter today that we've had in quite a while here at Blossom Acres Rabbitry. Lily of the Valley kindled today and had 7 beautiful little REW babies. All the babies look so healthy and chubby. I can't wait to watch these kits grow as they should be some very nice show prospects!
As a side note, I palpated Freezing Rain (smoke pearl FA doe) and Vanilla Bean (black Satin doe) today and both palpated positive! The two of them are due July 16th. I am so excited about both of these litters and the pairings were very nice so I am expecting some amazing babies! I am hoping to get some of these on the show table so I can hopefully begin and continue showing once again. Vanilla Bean was paired with a black buck so I should get blacks and broken blacks, while Freezing Rain was paired with a REW so I am guaranteed sable and REW. Since I do not know what color Moonbeam is underneath other colors are certainly possible but the two I mentioned are the only ones that are guaranteed.
I am going to most likely be breeding my last French Angora doe, Tangerine, sometime late July or in August. And then the cycle begins again! I am looking forward to all these babies but sure am not looking forward to going through a lot of food again! Guess it comes with the package...
Please stay tuned as I will be updating frequently with pictures and info as the babies develop!

We also came home with new acquaintances for the rabbitry. I got a New Zealand Red buck prejunior from
Razzle Dazzle Rabbitry. He will be
hanging around here for a while for a New Zealand Red project in the
future. I also picked up a broken black
intermediate Satin buck for my lone black Satin doe. She has been in need of a husband for a while
so I am hoping I can get her bred soon for baby Satins. We also have a new junior chocolate agouti
Netherland Dwarf doe that we plan on using in our orange program in our
Netherlands.
Here are some pictures of some of the new stock. Here is Eric the Red as I named him. He is a typical baby constantly on the move
so it was hard getting pictures that showed his body at all. I saw his sire at the show and he was a large, gorgeous, typey red buck with 1 GC Leg. While the pictures don't show his type very well they do show off his rufus beautifully!
Here are some pictures of Equinox (my name as well). I got a picture of him without my hand so you
could see his markings but his body doesn’t appear as deep for this
reason. I also included a top shot. He has amazing width for a buck so I am
hoping he will make me some gorgeous kits when paired with Vanilla Bean.
Lily of the Valley has been progressing well through her pregnancy and I am
looking forward to her litter in ten days!
I can’t wait to put some French Angoras on the table again.
We only have one Lionhead baby available for reservation
from our last litters! We are now taking
in names for our current Lionhead litters that were born recently. Please see the website for more
information. http://www.blossomacresrabbitry.webs.com
I will try to update this blog frequently so please keep
checking it out!

Wanted: New Breeding Stock!
It is not often that I go out and seek others rabbits, as I tend to work with what I have, so here is an opportunity to anyone who has what I am looking for! I am looking for the following rabbits:
FRENCH ANGORAS-
Chocolate buck, chocolate doe, broken patterned buck or doe, red buck or doe, lilac buck or doe, or sable pearl or smoke pearl buck. Prefer that these rabbits have a tort parent if possible, except for a smoke pearl or sable-pearl. Rabbits must be show quality, have minimal faults, and be pedigreed. Prefer seniors over juniors but would consider juniors.
SATINS-
Black, chocolate, lilac buck. Senior or intermediate prefered. Must be show quality and pedigreed. Prefer if black carries chocolate.
NEW ZEALANDS-
White or red bucks and does. Prefer seniors or almost seniors. Rabbits must be show quality and pedigreed. Want reds with intense and brilliant red color and very nice body type. Want whites with very nice body type.
If you have what I am looking for please send me an email. I plan on attending the MSRBA Fall Convention this November so I would be able to pick them up there. I will be looking at several breeders rabbits but would be happy to see what you have to offer.
Have a great week!

In the Rabbitry
Well, I have just sold the last of my French Angora juniors that I had for sale. They all went to wonderful homes. It will be quite a while until I have more French Angoras for sale. I do have around 12 head now so I am planning on cutting back some of my stock and replace some of my seniors with my up and coming juniors. Here is a sneak peek at what I will have available for sale:
1 Sr. Blue Proven French Angora Buck
1 Sr. Proven Ruby Eyed White French Angora Doe
1 Sr. Proven Red/Orange Doe (will be for sale as wooler)
I will have some very nice prejunior New Zealands available for purchase as well. I have 2 litters of babies right now. My partially pedigreed litter will be for sale at 10 weeks, and my fully pedigreed, younger litter will be for sale at 8 weeks. All of our does are spoken for but we will hae plenty of nice, purebred bucks available for purchase. I wil also be selling 2 of my proven seniors for sale soon. I have babies out of them and I am trying to move into pedigreed stock so I will be letting them go. I will have 1 unpedigreed proven purebred New Zealand White doe and one fully pedigreed proven, purebred New Zealand White buck. So, if they are something you might be interested in, please send me an email and ask to go on my waiting list OR you could just wait until they are for sale.
We have a bunch of Lionhead does bred right now, so we are expecting quite a few babies. We are also expecting French Angora babies and will be breeding our New Zealands and Satins this end of July-August. We are very excited about the Satins, as they will be our first Satin litters!
As for current sale rabbits- all we have left is Spot, a broken black Satin doe. She is a nice tempered girl. I am selling her as a pet for $15. If anyone is interested in her please call or email me.
We just ordered a bunch more cages. Unfortunately, these cages are for the rabbits that we had retained, so there isn't much expansion going on. This just gave us the flexibilty to move rabbits around and give them more room. I am not sure I wold really want to expand- I would like around 4 New Zealands and maybe 5 Satins, but that is in addition to my 12 or so French Angoras. Feed isn't cheap, either. I am also going to be going to college soon so I am not about to double the size of my herd. I am hoping to be able to keep the vast majority of my stock during this time. If I had too, I would be willing to part with my Satins, but even that would be hard. Time will tell.
I guess that wraps up everything!
