We also came home with new acquaintances for the rabbitry. I got a New Zealand Red buck prejunior from
Razzle Dazzle Rabbitry. He will be
hanging around here for a while for a New Zealand Red project in the
future. I also picked up a broken black
intermediate Satin buck for my lone black Satin doe. She has been in need of a husband for a while
so I am hoping I can get her bred soon for baby Satins. We also have a new junior chocolate agouti
Netherland Dwarf doe that we plan on using in our orange program in our
Netherlands.
Here are some pictures of some of the new stock. Here is Eric the Red as I named him. He is a typical baby constantly on the move
so it was hard getting pictures that showed his body at all. I saw his sire at the show and he was a large, gorgeous, typey red buck with 1 GC Leg. While the pictures don't show his type very well they do show off his rufus beautifully!
Here are some pictures of Equinox (my name as well). I got a picture of him without my hand so you
could see his markings but his body doesn’t appear as deep for this
reason. I also included a top shot. He has amazing width for a buck so I am
hoping he will make me some gorgeous kits when paired with Vanilla Bean.
Lily of the Valley has been progressing well through her pregnancy and I am
looking forward to her litter in ten days!
I can’t wait to put some French Angoras on the table again.
We only have one Lionhead baby available for reservation
from our last litters! We are now taking
in names for our current Lionhead litters that were born recently. Please see the website for more
information. http://www.blossomacresrabbitry.webs.com
I will try to update this blog frequently so please keep
checking it out!

Guinea Pigs?
Well, I promised my blog followers that I would announce the news that I kept from you:). Two words - guinea pigs.
We now have 2 guinea pigs - an American and a Coronet. The American is a beautiful black boar that has been shown before and showed well. The other is a show quality TSW Coronet boar. Both are very nice quality. I including pics for those who want to see them!
We are probably going to be showing them next year. They are our first pigs so not exactly sure what will become of them in terms of showing, but I guess we'll find out! Also not sure if we are going to breed them or not. Time will tell!
Back to the RABBITRY...
I have been trying to breed two of my French Angoras but with no success. My once reliable herd buck decided to get lazy on me. I have been trying to breed my gorgeous red doe Tangerine to Frederick but he has not been successful yet. I would have loved to get her bred to my tort buck so I would get my favorite color - red- but he is too young yet. I have also been trying to get Freezing Rain bred to Frederick (her father, unfortunately) but also no success. I really need to get her a nice smoke pearl or ideally a sable pearl husband, but have not been able to get one yet. So, I will try to get babies on the ground as soon as possible. That is - as soon as he breeds them! I really miss showing so I want to make every effort to get those 2 bred.
We sold a bunch of our Lionheads but still have some ones left! Please check out our sale page to see whats left! http://www.blossomacresrabbitry.webs.com

Last Show and Lionheads for Sale
Well, the last show of the year is now over. We did very well with multiple Best of Variety and Best Opposite Sex of Variety awards on our Lionheads. This show was fairly large and there were many Lionheads exhibited. The judges had very good comments about our bunnies. We are looking forward to the shows starting up again next year!
At the show, we got some new Lionhead breeding stock in the color Siamese Sable. We also purchased a new tort French Angora junior buck to use in our breeding program. I bought him too late to show at show a, so I entered him in show b where he took Best of Breed and Best of Variety. Not bad considering he was a spur of the moment entry:).
I have made the decision - I will be breeding New Zealand Reds. I really love the color. I will probably have a breeding pair of New Zealand Whites and then have maybe a trio of reds. I am thinking that maybe I should just get out of my Satins so I can better focus on my New Zealands and French Angoras. It is hard to decide now - I will make the decision end of January when I pick up my new stock.
We have lots of Lionheads for sale! We have reduced the price of our Lionheads so we can move them out quickly. They are very nice quality but have to move out so we have room for babies. Some were shown and received great comments. Please visit our website for a complete list and information on each bunny. Pictures are shown at younger ages - since then they have really developed and grown out their manes.
If interested please send us an email!

I also have another announcement to make! Unfortunately you will have to wait to the next post to find out though, as I want to include pictures.
Have a great week!

I am going to grow this litter out before selling them, and hopefully get some winnings on them as well. Thank you again Shannon Carter for providing me this opportunity. I also bred Blossom Acres’ Lily of the Valley to Farfelu’s Butter Brickle; she is due the 15th of April. I also bred Blossom Acres’ Tangerine to Butter Brickle; she is due a little later than her sister. .
