Breedings and Litter Update

Well, we have had the last of our 2011 breedings.  Our Lionhead does kindled November 9th and 10th and gave us some more kits.  Nolla had 2 live kits- 1 black and 1 blue, while Cocoa had 3 kits- 2 blues and a black.
We will be breeding 3 of our French Angora does to a beautiful Grand Champion Chocolate French Angora buck, and 1 of our does to a gorgeous Grand Champion Black French Angora buck.  Special thanks to Shannon Carter at Farfelu Rabbitry for making these upcoming litters possible.  Although most  of the does are first timers, we expect at least 2 of the does to take.  All of the kits sired by the chocolate buck will be chocolate carriers!  These litters will be the last ones born this year, and are due December 27th, 2011.  We are looking forward to the upcoming litters and will be happy to offer you choice breeding stock this spring.  Feel free to ask to be placed on the waiting list!
We will have a limited selection of kits from the last breedings available for purchase.  We expect to have some Lionheads from Little White Lie and Cocoa, and a few Satin/New Zealand Hybrids from Tracey.  The Lionhead kits will be available with pedigrees; the New Zealand/Satin Hybrids will not, as the parent stock was not pedigreed.  These kits will be available for sale beginning of January.  Please continue checking the blog and website to see more information about the kits.

New Bunnies!!!

Now our rabbitry is filled with several new litters.  We currently have 3 litters of purebred Lionheads and one litter of Satin/New Zealand White hybrids.  We are very excited as these are some of our first Lion litters, and our first meat hybrid litter.
Blossom Acres’ Little White Lie kindled November 6th and had a litter of 5- 2 black, 1 blue, and 2 tort-blue.  This was our very first blue Lionhead kit born in our rabbitry!  November 8th my New Zealand White doe, Tracey, kindled 8 kits- all black.  They were very squirmy at birth.  Today will bring two more litters- one from Cocoa (a chocolate) and one from Nolla (a blue-tort).
This time around all of our Lionhead does were bred to our black Lion buck, Shadow.  Our New Zealand doe was bred to Nox, our purebred Satin buck.  We learned from this breeding that Nox’s lines are very pure, and that he does not carry a recessive REW.
So far all is going well in the rabbitry.  These New Zealand/Satin Hybrid kits as well as the Lionheads should be available for purchase mid-January.  If interested please ask to be placed on the waiting list.
We will be breeding our French Angora does end of November for spring kits.  More information will be posted soon!
