Last Show and Lionheads for Sale

Well, the last show of the year is now over.  We did very well with multiple Best of Variety and Best Opposite Sex of Variety awards on our Lionheads.  This show was fairly large and there were many Lionheads exhibited.  The judges had very good comments about our bunnies.  We are looking forward to the shows starting up again next year!

At the show, we got some new Lionhead breeding stock in the color Siamese Sable.  We also purchased a new tort French Angora junior buck to use in our breeding program.  I bought him too late to show at show a, so I entered him in show b where he took Best of Breed and Best of Variety.  Not bad considering he was a spur of the moment entry:).

I have made the decision - I will be breeding New Zealand Reds.  I really love the color.  I will probably have a breeding pair of New Zealand Whites and then have maybe a trio of reds.  I am thinking that maybe I should just get out of my Satins so I can better focus on my New Zealands and French Angoras.  It is hard to decide now - I will make the decision end of January when I pick up my new stock.

We have lots of Lionheads for sale!  We have reduced the price of our Lionheads so we can move them out quickly.  They are very nice quality but have to move out so we have room for babies.  Some were shown and received great comments.  Please visit our website for a complete list and information on each bunny.  Pictures are shown at younger ages - since then they have really developed and grown out their manes.

Rabbit Show

We are still planning on attending the last rabbit show of the year in Michigan - MI Fall Convention 2012.  This show will be located at Michigan State University's pavilion. I expect it to be a pretty big show, as it always has been.

We will most likely be showing Lionheads.  I will be doing a little restocking if I see something I like while I am there:).  Barb has some amazing show baby Lionheads that she is probably going to be showing.  We should also be bringing some sale Lionheads while we are there so please stop by and see what we have.  We will see how the show goes and will be sure to give updates!

Have a great Thanksgiving!

Wanted: New Breeding Stock!

It is not often that I go out and seek others rabbits, as I tend to work with what I have, so here is an opportunity to anyone who has what I am looking for!  I am looking for the following rabbits:

FRENCH ANGORAS-

Chocolate buck, chocolate doe, broken patterned buck or doe, red buck or doe, lilac buck or doe, or sable pearl or smoke pearl buck.  Prefer that these rabbits have a tort parent if possible, except for a smoke pearl or sable-pearl.  Rabbits must be show quality, have minimal faults, and be pedigreed.  Prefer seniors over juniors but would consider juniors.

SATINS-

Black, chocolate, lilac buck.  Senior or intermediate prefered.  Must be show quality and pedigreed.  Prefer if black carries chocolate.

NEW ZEALANDS-

White or red bucks and does.  Prefer seniors or almost seniors.  Rabbits must be show quality and pedigreed.  Want reds with intense and brilliant red color and very nice body type.  Want whites with very nice body type.

If you have what I am looking for please send me an email.  I plan on attending the MSRBA Fall Convention this November so I would be able to pick them up there.  I will be looking at several breeders rabbits but would be happy to see what you have to offer.

Have a great week!

Breeding my French Angoras Soon - Finally!

I have been extremely busy with college but will be happy for the most part because the semester is almost over.  Once winter break comes around, I will be back to breeding and showing my rabbits!  I really miss having the time to take a Saturday and show my rabbits, never mind all the promising babies that I so much enjoy watching grow up.  It has been very hard for me to keep up with my rabbits.  I have made some cutbacks and have gotten a lot of additional assistance and help when needed from my sister (thanks Julia!), who has helped make it possible to keep my rabbits.  I have already decided that if I have to I will let my Satins and New Zealands go, but my French Angoras will not be leaving.  They especially have been worked on for quite a while by me and I have some amazing stock to show for it.  My rabbits make more wool than their parents and have been doing so well at shows.  I of course have not been breeding because I want to be available as they grow up so I can better evaluate them.

Luckily, I will be breeding extremely shortly with the hopes of having some potential juniors for the MSRBA Spring Convention in March.  I am thinking Thanksgiving break or roughly around then I will get two of my French does bred, and because it is a 31 day gestation period, I will be out of school before they kindle.  Talk about planning!  It couldn't be more convenient!

My sister Barb has been actively working on her Lionheads especially.  She has some amazing juniors right now.  She has really gotten far in her breeding program.  Once you know what you are looking for you can tell what each rabbit has and doesn't have, which makes it easier to cull out.  Right now she has some amazing chocolates with the beautiful short body and fairly big manes, which is fairly unusual for a chocolate.  She also has some stunner sable points that have the mane and body to win.  Hopefully she will be able to take some of these rabbits to the fall convention.

We did recently add a colors album and a cute pictures album to our website so please check it out and let us know what you think!

I will keep everyone updated!  Please check out the website, as we are still consistently updating it!
