Baby French Angora Bunnies & Pictures!

I decided to take out my 4 week old baby chestnut French Angoras for some exercise and fresh air.  They really enjoyed exploring and running around as shown in these pictures!  This litter is sired by Farfelu’s Butter Brickle, a chocolate agouti, and Blossom Acres’ Tangerine, a rare red.  This breeding turned out very nicely and will be repeated!

Of these 5 kits, there are 3 bucks and 2 does.  Both does are spoken for, but if you would be interested in any of the bucks please call (517) 589-5888 or email me to go on the waiting list!

A Note to Broken Patterned French Angora Breeders

I have had many people ask me about broken patterned French Angoras.  This information goes for the English and Satin Angoras as well (not yet recognized colors).

The broken variety is to be shown under “Colored” as oppose to “White”.  There is no special section retained for the brokens.  They are judged with the selfs, agoutis, steels, torts, wide bands…  If you have a broken and were unsure as to where to enter it, colored is the answer.

It also says in the standard that the rabbit is disqualified if it has less than 10% body color and more than 50%.  Alot of people, including myself, were unsure as to what counted as the body color.  Alot of people had thought that it just counted the top of the body and chest.  Actually, it counts the whole body- head, ears, feet, tail, back, and stomach.  So look over your rabbit and make sure that you have at least 10% body color and not over 50%.

I will be breeding broken patterned French Angoras soon.  They are a very beautiful pattern and are a lot of fun to exhibit.

Edited 1/6/14:  I have been raising and breeding the beautiful broken pattern since August 2014.  Here are a few pictures of broken French Angoras.

New Winnings, Litters, & Rabbits for Sale!

We have begun our show season yet again!  On January 28th, Circle 6’s Frederick, took 1st in class colored Jr. Buck!  Our REW senior doe, White Out, received 2nd in class.  She was competing with rabbits in full show coat, which she wasn’t in… She did come home with great comments though.

We also showed our bunnies at the Michigan Convention Spring show which took place March 3rd and 4th, 2012.  We took BOB Lionhead on the 3rd with Blossom Acres’ Frostbite, with around 25 in competition.  Blossom Acres’ Stainless Steel, a siamese sable Lion, took BOV at that show.  We also showed Blossom Acres’ Tangerine, who was awarded BOB & BOG, and Bonnie’s B15 “Nathaniel”, received BOS & BOG.  We also got Nathaniel registered at that show.  This buck has 2 legs towards his grand championship.  We are hoping to get his third on soon so that he can be granded!

We also showed on the 4th and received BOV Lionhead with Frostbite, and BOS & BOV Lionhead with Stainless Steel.  Tangerine took BOB and BOG French Angora, with her dad, Nathaniel, taking BOS and BOG French Angora.  All in all it was a great show.

We also got a few new acquaintances to our rabbitry:  Butter Brickle, a sr. chocolate agouti French Angora buck; Mr. Truffle, a chocolate Lionhead buck; Burnt Sienna, a chocolate Lionhead doe; Whiskey, a chocolate Lionhead doe; and La Petit Prince, a sable point Lionhead buck.  Pictures of our new stock can be seen on our website:  www.blossomcresrabbitry.webs.com.

We have litters in the nursery!!!  Right now we have 3 beautiful kits from Frederick to Lily of the Valley- 1 smoke pearl buck (FOR SALE), 1 smoke pearl doe, and 1 black doe.  We also bred Frederick to Missy and have 3 kits in this litter left as well- 1 opal buck, 1 blue buck (FOR SALE), and 1 chestnut doe.  White Out also has a litter of 1 blue, 1 REW, 1 chinchilla, and 1 squirrel- all bucks.  This whole litter is spoken for.

On the topic of French Angoras… we bred Missy to a Grand Champion Farfelu’s Cirrus, a chocolate buck.  This litter is due April 4th- we are expecting some promising bunnies!  I am going to grow this litter out before selling them, and hopefully get some winnings on them as well.  Thank you again Shannon Carter for providing me this opportunity. I also bred Blossom Acres’ Lily of the Valley to Farfelu’s Butter Brickle; she is due the 15th of April.  I also bred Blossom Acres’ Tangerine to Butter Brickle; she is due a little later than her sister.  .

We also have 2 litters of Lionheads in the nursery, and several more on the way.  Our upcoming litters are going to be exciting.  We are expecting chestnuts, chocolates, possibly oranges, and many more colors from our does that are bred!  Please visit our website for more information.

We currently have 3 French Angoras for sale- 1 smoke pearl buck, 1 blue buck, and 1 tort buck.  We have 1 blue-tort Lionhead buck for sale as pet.  We also have 1 junior New Zealand White buck for sale- with partial pedigree.  www.blossomacresrabbitry.webs.com

That wraps everything up for now.  I will update everyone as more happens.

Rabbitry Update

We have had some new happenings here at Blossom Acres.  We have decided to sell out of our Californians in order to better focus on our other breeds.  We currently have 2 rabbits for sale- a doe and a buck.  I am charging $30 for the buck and $40 for the doe.  Both are proven and come with pedigrees.  More information can be seen on our website:  blossomacresrabbitry.webs.com.

Recently we bred Tracey, our New Zealand White doe to Baby Boy, our NZW buck.  This was his first time breeding so we will have to see how everything turns out!  Baby Boy to Tracey is a very nice breeding, so I am expecting some promising rabbits in the litter.  If Tracey takes, these kits will be available for sale around March 18th.  They will be available with partial pedigrees- they will just be missing two generations on the mom’s side.

We have had several nice litters from Wee One’s Cocoa and Blossom Acres’ Frostbite.  These kits were born December 27th and December 29th.  We are also expecting a litter from Blossom Acres’ Little White Lie on the 11th of January.  These kits should be available for purchase beginning of March to mid March 2012.   All of the show and brood quality Lionheads will come with 3 generation pedigrees.  We are expecting black, blue, blue tort, black tort, REW, and shaded kits born, and will hopefully have some nice blue and blue-tort babies available for sale.  Some of these Lionhead kits will be chocolate carriers!!!

The French Angoras are going well too.  I am expecting a litter mid January from Blossom Acres Lily of the Valley who is bred to Circle 6’s Fredrick.  Lily is one of my favorite does in the rabbitry- she has VERY good type and a lovely, dense fleece.  This breeding should produce some outstanding purebred kits with HUGE potential.  It will also be second generation of Blossom Acres!!!  This is going to be Lily’s first litter!  Farfelu’s Missy is also due with a litter a little later than her daughter; she too is bred to Fredrick.  All of these kits will come with 3 generation pedigrees and will be available for purchase beginning to mid March.  Once I finish showing some of my other seniors, I will be breeding them to Fredrick.

Here are some pictures of Tangerine I got in full fleece:

I will update everyone as things happen.
